He is a graduate architect from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU) at the University of Chile (1992) and holds a Master of Architecture from Yale University (YSoA), United States (1998). He is a Full Professor at the FAU, where he has taught design studios since 1999 and served as Director of the School between 2005 and 2007. He co-founded, directed, and served as Dean of the School of Architecture at the Universidad San Sebastián from 2007 to 2019, overseeing campuses in Santiago, Concepción, and Puerto Montt. During this period, he established the journal Materia Arquitectura, implemented the «Integrated Studio» educational model, and founded the country’s largest network of digital prototyping laboratories.

He was a Teaching Fellow at Yale University between 1997 and 1998, teaching both undergraduate and graduate programs. He has been a guest professor at various national universities and has led workshops in Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, and Mexico. He has also delivered numerous international lectures, including at Harvard’s GSD, the University of the Andes in Colombia, ITESO in Mexico, and Ningbo University in China.

His academic distinctions include «Best Student Class 1992, FAU University of Chile,» «Best Thesis Project, Chilean Biennial of Architecture 1993» awarded by the College of Architects of Chile, the «Samuel J. Fogelson Memorial Award» for academic excellence from the Yale School of Architecture, and he has received the President of the Republic and Fulbright scholarships.

His academic work is inseparable from his independent professional practice, which spans two decades and has been recognized both nationally and internationally, earning various awards in public and private architecture competitions: in 2017, he won the «Grand Prix d’Argent» as TCL Arquitectos for contributions to public space in the Factoría Italia project (Louvre Museum, Paris); in 2019, he won the AIC Competition as «Architect of the Year» for the renovation of the School of Architecture at USS Los Leones Campus, former Santiago College; in 2021, he won the «Best Architecture Award» at the IAI Awards in Beijing for the Faculty of Sciences at the Universidad Austral de Chile; and in 2025, he won the «BIG See Architecture Award» in the Residential Houses category for the «Casa Lagos Laval» project in Portorož, Slovenia.

His work has been extensively published in Asia, America, and Europe, in specialized media such as Haüser and Wohn Design (Germany), Interni and Monitor (Russia), AD and Enlace (Mexico), Dwell (USA), Diseño y Arquitectura (Spain), Ottagono and La Mia Casa (Italy), Tendènce & Deco (France), BoB (South Korea), Design & Dialogue (China), Summa and ARQ (Argentina), Arhitetura (Romania), Atrium (Czech Republic), Wallpaper (UK), Villas (Sweden), AAA (Costa Rica), among others. In 2018, he published his first monographic book, «Albert Tidy Arquitectos.» He has also contributed chapters to architecture books in Chile, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, and China, and his work has been exhibited in France, Japan, Brazil, and at the Biennales of Chile, Quito, Ibero-America, and Venice.

Local press recognized him as one of the country’s 100 emerging leaders in 2001; as one of the 35 young entrepreneurs of the year in 2003; and in 2005, as one of the 50 established leaders of the country.
